How do you know if you will benefit from toenail surgery?
●Do your big toenails (or other toenails) hurt down the sides when the blankets/bed sheets press on them?
●Have you been receiving regular treatment by your podiatrist who may temporarily cut down the sides (sulci) to relieve the pain, thereby providing short term or no relief?
●Have you had constant infections down the sides of your toenails, only to be prescribed antibiotics, with some relief and then another flare up of symptoms/signs?
●Have you had a toenail removed surgically in the past, only to find fragments/shards of toenail protruding through, constantly catching on socks/stockings?
●Do you have painful callus/hard skin down the sides of you nail, or a visible lump near the side of the nail. This is commonly hard skin within the sulcus (nail edge)
●Have you had an ingrown toenail removed before and sides of the nail re-grown with the same painful symptoms?
●Do you suffer from a painful corn down the side of your toenail?
If you have answered yes to any of the above, then you may benefit from a permanent nail wedge resection (NWR) with phenolisation of root matrix.
